Abstract
This study set out to empirically analyze the moderating effects of EAPs(Employee Assistance Programs) on relations between workers` job stress and job performance at an investigation level to check the usefulness of those programs introduced and applied as part of employee welfare at general corporations. The study tried to demonstrate that the introduction of EAPs had the possibility of benefit superiority over cost at the organizational level and provide clues for practical discussions for the activation of EAPs. For analysis method, the study conducted a survey with 136 office workers(sampling the same number of EAP participants as non-participants) at general corporations running an EAP according to the comprehensive service model and outside format in the nation. Multiple regression analysis was carried out to examine relations between job stress and job performance and the moderating effects of EAPs on their relations. As a result, job stress had negative(-) effects on job performance with EAPs reducing its negative effects to certain degree. Those findings raise a need to make active use of the advantages of the multiple EAP elements in the efforts to manage employees` stress for the organization`s performance management. The study also discussed such practice strategies as establishing a total stress management system through EAPs, expanding the government`s legal and financial supports, and specializing the EAP personnel and service.
